It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Phil Hibbert on 21st June 2025, aged 44 years. Phil’s unexpected departure has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.

He was a devoted father, loving partner, treasured son, and loyal friend whose presence brought warmth, humour, and kindness to every room he entered. Phil’s greatest pride in life was his daughter, Amelia. He adored her endlessly and took great joy in watching her grow and thrive.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

As a father, he was protective, fun-loving, and present—always there with a word of encouragement or a warm embrace. Amelia was truly the light of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to speak proudly of her accomplishments and character.
Phil also shared a deep and devoted partnership with his beloved Rachael. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and mutual support. Their relationship was one of genuine companionship, built on trust, affection, and a shared love for life’s little moments.

Rachael and Phil made countless memories together, each one now cherished even more deeply by those left behind. Born and raised in Ryhope, Phil was the beloved son of Jean and the late John Hibbert.

He remained incredibly close to his mum throughout his life, and her strength and love were always constants for him. He also held a special place in his heart for his late father, John, whose influence shaped much of who Phil became.

Phil was a loyal and loving brother to Jon, Lee, and Clare. Their bond was one of laughter, teasing, and unwavering support. He brought energy and fun to family gatherings, always quick with a joke or a helping hand.

As an uncle, Phil was cherished by Sean, Jade, Bethany, Becky, Morgan, Gina, Sammy, Katelyn, Nathan, and Olivia. He had a natural ability to connect with people of all ages and was especially adored by his nieces and nephews, who looked up to him as both a role model and a source of fun.

He was also a dear brother-in-law and a true friend to many. Phil had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and his easygoing personality made him well-loved in all circles.

Whether sharing a pint, cracking a joke, or lending an ear, Phil was always there for those who needed him. His sense of humour, generosity, and sincerity left lasting impressions on everyone he met.

Phil’s life will be honoured with a service at Sunderland Crematorium on Monday, 14th July at 11:30am. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend, and all are welcome to join the family afterwards at The Derwenthurst to celebrate Phil’s life with food, drink, and memories shared.

In tribute to Phil’s favourite colour, attendees are encouraged to wear a splash of blue. In keeping with the family’s wishes, family flowers only please. However, donations to a charity of the family’s choice are welcome.

A donation box will be available at the service for those who wish to contribute in Phil’s memory. Phil Hibbert will be remembered as a man of great heart—a loving dad, a caring partner, a devoted son and brother, and a true friend. His loss is deeply felt by all who had the honour of knowing him.

Though he is gone far too soon, his spirit will live on in the love he gave and the lives he touched.
