Ryan was fatally injured while working in an excavated area on Grand River Avenue under I-96, part of a major Michigan Department of Transportation project. Despite the efforts of those on-site, including his family members, Ryan passed away after being accidentally struck by an excavator bucket. The incident is being investigated by authorities, who have confirmed that the operator did not see Ryan in the excavation area.
