Muscatine Shooting Today – Woman Shot Multiple Times at Hy-Vee by Alleged Stalker Muscatine, Iowa – A shocking act of violence unfolded at the Hy-Vee grocery store on Park Avenue Monday morning, where a woman was shot multiple times in what authorities believe was a targeted attack by an alleged stalker.
The incident occurred just before 11:00 a.m., sending panicked shoppers and employees fleeing for cover as gunfire erupted inside the busy store.According to initial reports from Muscatine police, the female victim, whose identity has not yet been released,
was approached and shot at close range near the store’s entrance by a male suspect with whom she had a prior connection. Witnesses say the man appeared to have been waiting for her and opened fire without warning. Several bystanders rushed to help the woman, who was reportedly conscious but critically injured when emergency responders arrived.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident shortly after the shooting, reportedly detained by officers in the parking lot. Police sources indicated that a history of stalking behavior had been reported between the suspect and the victim, and a protective order may have been in place.
Witnesses inside the Hy-Vee described the scene as “chaotic and terrifying,” with families diving behind displays and employees locking themselves in storage rooms. “It was like something out of a nightmare,” said one shopper. “We just heard screaming and gunshots and didn’t know what to do.”
The victim was airlifted to a nearby trauma center and remains in critical condition.
