June 30, 2025 A tragic motorcycle accident in the early hours of Monday morning has claimed the life of a young man and led to the temporary closure of a major roadway in Clearwater.

The crash occurred shortly after midnight on June 30, 2025, in the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 19, just south of Enterprise Road. According to witness accounts and preliminary investigations, a motorcycle traveling at a high speed struck the concrete barrier dividing the main highway from the access road.

The rider, identified as 27-year-old Leon Webb of Largo, Florida, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was operating a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R600, a sportbike known for its speed and agility.

Emergency crews from Clearwater Police and Fire Rescue responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, Mr. Webb could not be revived. The southbound lanes of U.S. 19 were closed for several hours overnight as traffic homicide investigators worked to reconstruct the scene and determine the circumstances leading up to the crash.

No other vehicles were reported to be involved, and the investigation remains ongoing.
