Tragedy at Del Mar Park: Body Found Hanging in Apparent Suicide Aurora Police are investigating a tragic discovery made Friday morning at Del Mar Park, where a young Hispanic man was found hanging from a tree in what authorities are calling an apparent suicide.
The body was discovered near the 12000 block of East 6th Avenue, within the bounds of the popular Del Mar Park, a public space frequented by local families, joggers, and dog walkers. The man was described as wearing a green hoodie and gray pants.
In a statement released by the Aurora Police Department, officials confirmed that there are no signs of foul play or evidence to suggest that a crime occurred. “Any loss of life in our community is a tragedy and will always be investigated to its utmost to determine if criminal behavior is involved,” the department said.
Based on initial findings, investigators have concluded that the incident was a self-inflicted act, and there is no threat to public safety or the broader community.
The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office has taken over the ongoing investigation and will be responsible for confirming the individual’s identity and conducting an autopsy.
The scene was cordoned off early Friday morning as police responded to calls from bystanders who had come across the body. First responders worked quickly to secure the area while ensuring that any evidence was preserved for a full examination.
As of now, the identity of the deceased has not been released publicly, pending notification of next of kin.
